If Midland Public Schools are cancelled or delayed: All morning group fitness classes will be cancelled until 11:30am
For Lunchtime Classes: At 10:00am the determination will be made whether or not to cancel lunchtime classes.
For Evening Classes: At 2:00pm the determination will be made whether or not to cancel late afternoon and evening classes.

Jenni returned to working at our Dow Midland Wellness Centers in 2022. She has had such a warm welcome back to her hometown by the members and staff at the Wellness Centers. When Jenni found the motivation to practice self-care, she found that she was in the right place to do that.
Jenni said “The wellness centers are a very positive and uplifting environment, so I leaned into that and returned to my core principles of Health, Happiness, and Gratitude towards life. I had high cholesterol, high body fat %, low energy level, low activity level, and I was very depressed. I looked up to members who are considered regulars because they simply show up at the Wellness Center with consistency. I admired Dow retirees who acknowledge that exercise has an impact on their quality of life. As soon as 2024 began, I made healthy lifestyle changes that would form lasting habits. I was being added to the group fitness schedule, so that was one of my main visions: to live the lifestyle of a Group Fitness Instructor."

𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒
I began a more comprehensive effort to improve my health late in 2023. I had some chronic issues related to my weight. A more acute issue arose that helped motivate me to get started. I decided to make use of the excellent resources available at the Dow Midland Wellness Centers– a great gym, personal training with Jason Koester at the Easy End Wellness Center and nutrition and dietary counseling with Maggie Rettelle at Quad Medical on the 1st floor. Jason and Maggie have been very supportive and central to my wellness journey success to date. They designed healthy personalized approaches to losing weight while retaining as much muscle as possible. I lost more than 100 pounds and reached the approximate weight goal I set. Now my emphasis is shifting to weight maintenance and building strength.

Friendly staff and members, the relaxed atmosphere, Jason’s encouragement and thoughtful workout plans that take into account my specific requirements all keep me coming back. The Wellness Center is a central fixture in the lifestyle changes I want to maintain.

Be patient with yourself. Set aside time for a daily activity that will raise your heart rate. Talk to a nutritionist/dietician about getting the nutrition you will need to stay energized and strong. You may be surprised at the amount of protein you need (which increases as we get older). Be open to support and encouragement from friends, family and Wellness Center staff. Consider getting a personal trainer who can design a flexible plan customized for you, help keep you motivated and can provide insight into your progress.
