Stephen C. Brewer, M.D., ABFM
Medical Director, Canyon Ranch in Tucson
Dr. Stephen C. Brewer joined the Canyon Ranch team as Medical Director in 2004. He completed his undergraduate education from Ohio State University and he received his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio. He is also certified in medical acupuncture from University of California, Los Angeles and completed training in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona. His specialties include family medicine, integrative medicine, preventive medicine and men’s health. Dr. Brewer leads numerous lectures on a variety of topics including cognitive vitality, integrative medicine, preventive cardiology, men’s health, medical weight loss, peak performance and health in moderation
Dr. Brewer is the author of The Canyon Ranch Guide to Men’s Health and is coauthor of The Everest Principle: How to Achieve the Summit of Your Life. In his spare time, he enjoys writing, running, and playing golf.

Amy Hawthorne, MS, LMFT
Director of Life Management, Canyon Ranch in Tucson
Amy received her Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University before pursuing her Master of Science degree in marriage and family therapy from Kansas State University. Amy is an independently licensed therapist in Arizona and prior to Canyon Ranch, spent several years working for a world-renowned in-patient treatment center. She has experience in addressing issues ranging from trauma to many forms of addiction. She is also well versed in the areas of depression, anxiety, stress management, couples therapy, codependency and healing shame.
While she still maintains a small private practice in the community, her focus is as a practitioner at Canyon Ranch where she specializes in getting to the root of issues quickly, helping guests to identify shame based messages, past traumas and maladaptive relationship patterns. Amy believes the only true path to long-lasting, meaningful change is through the cultivation of self-compassion and gaining personal insight and awareness which she helps guests achieve through her direct, yet compassionate style of therapy. She feels honored to be a part of Canyon Ranch and finds immense satisfaction not only in helping guests to have their own “Ah-Ha” moments, but in getting to be a part of what she considers to be the pinnacle of true mind, body and spiritual wellness experiences.
Amy is an avid runner and gym enthusiast, always making time for a workout even on the busiest of days. On her days off or after her run, you will most certainly find her spending time with her husband and her son, who she maintains is the best thing that has ever happened to her.

Stephanie Ludwig, PHD, MA, MDIV
Director of Spiritual Wellness, Canyon Ranch in Tucson
Stephanie Ludwig is dedicated to helping guests nourish their spiritual lives through the cultivation of self-love, awareness of the present moment and transformative spiritual practices. She specializes in women’s spiritual development, exploring pathways to greater purpose and meaning in life, navigating change and transitions, healing grief and trauma through spiritual growth, accessing dreams and creative expression for spiritual insight and the scientific study of spirituality.
Stephanie earned her doctorate in Transpersonal Psychology and a master’s degree in Transpersonal Studies from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, Palo Alto, California. She received a Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt University. She is also a certified Compassionate Bereavement Care® provider through the MISS Foundation, which supports grieving families nationwide.
Stephanie has over 20 years of professional experience teaching and accompanying people spiritually as a spiritual guide and retreat leader in private practice, as a spiritual community leader, educational program director, college instructor and crisis counselor. Prior to joining Canyon Ranch, Stephanie founded Girls on the Run of Northern Arizona, a nonprofit organization that inspires girls and women to be joyful, healthy and confident through holistic wellness education and running.
Stephanie embraces nature as a powerful teacher of mindfulness and simplicity, and cherishes regular time spent trail running, hiking, camping and backpacking in wild and beautiful places. She also revels in quiet time with loved ones, listening to the desert songbirds, reading, writing and baking.

Lisa L. Powell, MS, RDN
Director of Nutrition, Canyon Ranch in Tucson
Lisa Powell, MS, RDN, received a BS in Human Nutrition and MS in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona, where she received the President’s Award for Academic Excellence and was a Rhode’s Scholar nominee. She conducted research in both the Nutritional Science and Obstetrics and Gynecology departments at the University of Arizona. Lisa is a guest lecturer in Nutritional Sciences and a member of the Dietetics Undergraduate Advisory Committee at the University of Arizona. Lisa is a faculty member of the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy; contributing author for the National Center for Integrative Primary Healthcare, Center for Integrative Medicine, University of Arizona and has experience as a nutrition and menu consultant in business and industry.
Lisa has been the Director of Nutrition for Canyon Ranch Resort in Tucson, Arizona, for over two decades. She leads a team of Registered Dietitian/Nutritionists and is responsible for development and implementation of cutting-edge integrative nutrition services. Lisa has also served as Nutrition Director for Canyon Ranch Resort in Lenox, Massachusetts and was a member of the opening faculty for the Canyon Ranch Spa + Fitness in Las Vegas. Lisa also serves as a nutrition spokesperson, representing Canyon Ranch in print, radio, television and web-based media. Lisa has held leadership roles in the Southern Arizona District Dietetic Association and served on the Executive Committee for the Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine practice group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as Networking Chair and Associate Chair. She also served as a media spokesperson for the Tucson chapter of the American Heart Association.
Lisa loves food and cooking and delights in preparing healthy meals for her friends and family. She enjoys traveling and is active outdoors year-round in the Arizona sunshine, hiking, swimming and spending time with her family.

Andrew Wolf, M.Ed., RCEP
Exercise Physiologist, Canyon Ranch in Tucson
Andrew Wolf M.Ed, RCEP, matriculated at the University of Arizona where he received a B.S in exercise and sport science. Feeling that his adventure in physiology was not yet complete Andrew moved to Texas to attend the University of Texas at Austin where he received a master degree in exercise physiology. During his tenure at UT Austin Andrew was the recipient of both a Brace and Alderson scholarship for academic excellence.
Andrew has spent the last 18 years working in the wellness realm as an exercise physiologist providing assessment and prescriptive exercise for a diverse array of people and needs. Andrew’s areas of interest include exercise for diverse populations (elderly, diabetic, orthopedically challenged, performance athletes), metabolic testing and interpretation as well as the general use of exercise as medicine.
During his career Andrew has appeared as an expert contributor for articles in several health and wellness publications as well as co-authoring a chapter in the Integrative Medicine manual by David Rakel.
Andrew currently makes Tucson, Arizona his home where he takes any free time to get into the beautiful Sonoran desert that he calls home. His current passion is trying to impart his love for nature and the outdoors onto his lovely 6 year old daughter.
